Emotional and Tangible Organizing Benefits

I am now in my 60s and have an elder friend that I've known since I was 10.
This morning, we spent two hours sorting through stacks of paper in her home.
It was a pleasure to divide them into shred, trash, and recycle bins.
This was particularly simple because they were not mine!
I recently worked with an organizer in my own home, and I believe I cried every time we had a session. This response is very common when we do the emotional work of sorting through our things. Within the past week I had a conversation in a grocery aisle with another long time friend. My take away sentence from her was "You never see a hearse towing a U-Haul."
Throughout my life, I have had the good fortune to help elder friends and family organize. One of them even called me 'Young one'. These experiences have allowed me to become more organized in my own home. This is helpful because as an artist I imagine uses for just about everything, and have kept some things for decades.
I can feel the emotional and tangible organizing benefits, of the helping hands I have given and received.
Sort, share, embrace, and release. You'll be glad you did.
