About
Beginnings
Known to thousands of children and their families as The Face Paint Lady, Michelle Johnson is the CEO/Founder of The Face Paint Lady Inc! She was introduced to theatrical make up when hired in 1988 for the big Halloween extravaganzas at Kinetic Artistry in Maryland.
There she learned makeup from artist Roger Riggle. Michelle orders her Kryolan paints from Roger to this very day. In 1991 when her dear friend Ellen suggested she bring her paints, Michelle began painting the public at Darrow Berry Farm in Glendale. She has been face painting ever since!
Building The Legacy
Michelle's colorful energy and attire made her consistently recognizable as an icon of fun! From 1996 to 2002, during the early years of the Bowie Baysox, she painted over 500 games for crowds 10,000 strong. Seven seasons of performing at every home game introduced her to the entire community.
This cemented Michelle’s position as the area’s go-to local face painter. She also enjoyed painting for 9 years at 3 local Chick-Fil-A’s and from 2013-2017 every Tuesday night at local restaurants. In between these regular appearances, she performed at thousands of birthday parties, city events, corporate functions, museums and career days.
Enjoying The Present
Michelle has two grown children and enjoyed painting them and their friends! As Michelle celebrates three decades of facepainting, it continues to be an absolute pleasure. She can be found painting regularly at the Crofton Farmer's Market, hosting interactive online events engaging both families and businesses.
She is also a certified Creative Aging Teaching Artist, leading senior groups in her custom designed collage curriculum. We are the kind of people who are creating the kind of company that practices being welcoming in each moment.
